sage hill press

I love Sage Hill Press. It’s a poetry book publisher run by Thom Caraway, who is an amazing editor. He even has the entire backlist of  L’Epervier Press, a great little poetry press back in the 70s and 80s that published a number of the poets you are reading today. All I can think of right now is Linda Bierds and Albert Goldbarth, but there are others of the same magnitude as them. Plus, Sage Hill Press will soon be releasing my book: Poetry Assignments: The Book. More on that some other time. What I want to metion is:

The Powder Horn Prize, a first book contest. This year’s contest will be judged by Christopher Howell. Reading fee is $15, and manuscripts are due by August 1, 2010. Winner receives publication and $250. Send full-length (48+ pages) manuscripts and check payable to “Sage Hill Press” to Sage Hill Press: Powder Horn Prize / 1024 N. Summit Blvd. / Spokane, WA / 99201.

By the way, Christopher Howell is a wonderful poet, and his knowledge of poetry is unmatched. So if you win, you’ll know you’ve got a worthy book. Here are some of his books: Light’s Ladder, Just Waking, Though Silence: The Ling Wei Poems, and Dreamless and Possible. You can find my review of Light’s Ladder here: http://redactions.com/reviews.asp.

So all you poets without a book, go enter . . . now. //
