in pursuit of the juiciest wine: day four

Emilio Moro Finca Resalso 2007It’s Sunday, so I gotta take it a bit easier than the last two nights. However, that doesn’t excuse me from trying Emilio Moro Finca Resalso 2007.

This wine is 100% Tinto Fino, which is another name for Tempranillo. A number of regions in Spain have different names for Tempranillo, as I understand it.

As I hold this glass up against a gray Brockport sky that has been trying to rain and thunderstorm all weekend, I can see through the wine. Unfortunately, I can also hear some kind of thraser, speed metal rock, and it sounds like it is being sung by Lucifer himself. I really thought Lucifer had more class than thraser, speed metal rock. I always pictured him as a classical music fan.

Anyway, the wine has a mild nose with a hint of white pepper. There’s something sweet in there, too, like vanilla. Maybe caramel. And there’s definitely some dark berries. It’s gonna be dry.

Here go the first sips.

It’s got a texture like the syrup in a can of peaches, but not as thick. It’s kind juicy like that canned syrup, too, but with a dry finish. It tastes a bit like a fruity extra virgin olive oil. The finish is spicy with red licorice.

I gotta slow this down a bit. I gotta work in the morning.

I think this wine will go quite well with the vegetable and seitan hoisin stiry fry I’m about to make. Allons-y.//
