in pursuit of the juiciest wine: day seven

Marquis Philips Grenache 2007My girlfriend’s best friend just walked in. She started walking from the eastern beginning point of the Erie Canal, and now she’s here on a pit stop before she heads off to the western finishing point of the Erie Canal, and maybe onward to the west coast. They haven’t seen each other in a year, so it will be a fun reunion.

As a result, a quick entry.

Today’s wine is Marquis Philips Grenache 2007 from South Eastern Australia. I’ve had Marquis Philips Sarah’s Blend before. That’s a real good wine, so I expect the same from this.

“Oh my gosh,” I thought as I poured the wine into my glass, “It’s so thin.” I can’t remember the last time I saw a wine this thin from outside of New York State. Hm. I can see right through it. I’m very skeptical.

Oi. Here goes it. It’s got a peppery nose and smells fuller than it looks. There’s some cherries in there, too.

Sour and peppery finish. Not much going on with this wine. There’s nothing to it except on the finish, and even that is starting to make me wince. Bland on the front and middle of the palate, too. I like the vomity Red Guitar wine from day two of the juicy wine tour better than this Marquis Philips Grenache 2007.

This wine is lame. It’s got lots of alcohol in it, though. I can smell, see, and taste it. Still, I might have to dump it. Ug.//
