in pursuit of the juiciest wine: day thirty-seven

I love the headline at The Huffington Post: State of Married Bliss. Yay! California overturned Proposition 8. They court said it was unconstitutional to deny marriage to same or opposite sex couples. They said there was no rational or logical reason for it. So yay!

You can read about it here: Prop 8 OVERTURNED: Gay Marriage Ban Struck Down In California.

What better reason to drink some wine. So Parducci Pinot Noir 2008 it will be.

This Californian Pinot Noir is faint in color and has a wide meniscus. Usually the meniscus just clings to the glass and goes, but this is coming into the wine. It’s so, so thin. And it has bubbly legs. I forget what that means, but I’ve only seen that with white wine.

The nose, however, is thick and spicy.  I also pick up pears and salt. The legs have shifted to long and short lived, but there are still some bubbles. This is getting interesting like a mystery.

The texture is kinda like the syrup that comes with canned pears, but not as thick. There are definitely cranberries. I like the finish for a while when it’s peppery and cranberry, but then after a second or two, the tartness arrives.

I want to eat clams. Clams in pasta and red sauce. That would be good. Or clams and a garlic-butter sauce and pasta.

This is a good wine until a couple of seconds after you swallow. It needs food.//
